In our design laboratory and through our association with our parent company, Colas, we have the ability to provide conventional asphalt mixes as well as the most technical applications. These applications address properties such as skid resistance, noise levels, high durability, and even “warm asphalt”, a new concept in environmental design.
Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) is a combination of aggregates, hydrated lime, and a bituminous binder called asphalt cement. Sometimes additives are used (for example rubber from old car tires or rejuvenators) and, increasingly, reclaimed “asphalt” from old roads called RAP (recycled asphalt pavement).
Warm Mix Asphalt is the generic term for a variety of technologies that allow the producers of hot-mix asphalt pavement material to lower the temperatures at which the material is mixed and placed on the road.
Southeast Emulsions produces asphalt emulsions and polymer modified emulsions, which are used in virtually every type of pavement preservation including surface treatments, cold mixes, recycling and tack coats. They hold AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) accreditation for Emulsified Asphalt testing. They formulate new products using select raw materials and then test them extensively in their in-house laboratories and testing facilities. From there, they manufacture them using state-of-the-art plants and equipment.
